Family Pictures

For Christmas for our parents we had our friend Hayden take some family pictures and pictures of the kids. They turned out great. They were taken about a month ago, but we wanted them to be a surprise so I didn't post them earlier.

And Minna.

Minna is 7 months old.

And 1 day, she was 7 months yesterday. Here is what she is up to now.

• Eating 3 meals a day. About 1 month ago she was hardly eating dinner, now she is eating 1/2 a jar 3 times a day.


• Making chewing motions when she eats. She will eat soft chunky stuff like banana, pear or other fruit chunks, or as of yesterday Cheerios.


• She gets upset when Joshua takes her things now, but she is also working on stealing his stuff. Especially in the bath, we will give her a few ducks to play with, but she loves to reach over the edge and take his ducks out of the water.


• She is sitting up pretty well now as long as she focuses, she doesn't need to balance on her hands or anything, but sometimes she gets distracted and falls over backwards and then screams.


• She has developed one heck of a scream. Brian says she screams like a banshee.


• Her favorite person is not Brian, nor me even though I nurse her. Her favorite person is Joshua, she will be fussy in the morning, if he sleeps in too long after she gets up.


• She is moving around, but now so much when you watch her. I will put her down and she will just roll back and forth and not really go anywhere, grab her feet and act all innocent. Then I will look away for a moment and she has rolled, and scooted off somewhere. Her favorite place to be is under the coffee table.

Joshuaism

For dinner Brian made pancakes (its our regular Sunday meal). Brian had three pancakes in a row, and Joshua thought they looked like a snowman. Joshua is obsessed with snowman, so Brian made him an actual snowman pancake. Then when Joshua was saying the blessing it went something like this:
Joshua (halfway through prayer): "Please bless"...(looks at his snowman pancake), "please bless the snowman." (Breaks into song) "Frosty the snowman was a jolly..."
Brian: "Say Amen, say Amen."
Joshua: "Amen." (Breaks into song again) "Frosty the snowman..."

Joshua the Architect

Earlier this week I was playing with blocks with the kids. I was doing the standard build it up high until it falls block building. I looked over at what Joshua was doing and I saw this:

He had taken all the triangle blocks and lined them up one by another. That didn't surprise me, he has had this thing lately where he likes to line his toys up. He calls them towers even though they are horizontal. But then he took the square blocks and turned them so they stacked like diamonds. I was quite impressed because it never entered my mind to build like this. Here is a close up on his work.

Minna's 6 Month's Stats

Minna had her 6 month check-up today. Every time I take her in she is smaller than I expect her to be. But she has good growth and is healthy and happy.

Weight: 14 pounds 1 ounce (13th percentile)
Height: 25 1/4 inches (29th percentile)
Head: 16 1/4 inches (16th percentile)
