Joshua is so excited to be turning 6. This year is his year for a party (we only do one party a year, sometimes the kids are combined, but with all the birthdays in May there is only one party). We chose a pirate theme. He only wanted to invite two of his close friends, which ended up being perfect.
The boys dressed like pirates, and Joshua ended up getting into character and said ARRRR every third word.
They started out painting cardboard boxes to be their pirate ships.
Then it started raining just a little, so I pulled the boxes inside to dry, but since it wasn't raining too hard Brian took the kids on a treasure hunt around the property. They were able dig up treasure that Brian buried about a foot down.
Next they ate lunch, Joshua wanted hot dogs and I served strawberries and watermelon with it.
Joshua insisted on party hats for everyone, fortunately six year olds are in to that stuff. Then we had cupcakes of course.
Then Joshua opened presents and they ran around the house playing with them.
When the ships were mostly dry we took a picture of the pirates in their ships.
It was lots of fun for all.
