Minna's Leg

Last week we went to a birthday party and a little fall on a bouncy house; she had a lot of tears, but she tends to be a drama queen.  But towards the end of the party I would try to put her down and she wouldn't stand on the leg.  So when we went home we put her down for a nap and she woke up still refusing to stand on the leg.  Brian came home from work and we headed to Urgent Care.  They took an x-ray, and didn't see anything wrong, but she was obviously hurting so they put a splint. on her leg and told me to keep her off of it.
They also told us to take her to an orthopedic on Monday.

The next day at church with some ibuprofen she was feeling a lot better.  I had my hands full trying to keep her from trying to walk.  She was super bored because I wouldn't let her go to nursery either.  Sunday night she got totally sick of being stuck where I put her, so she figured out how to get around a little bit.

The next day when we showed up at the orthopedic we found out that the Urgent Care had sent us to the wrong office, and we were the third appointment that morning they had messed up.  Fortunately they leave openings because it happens often and we just had to wait an hour and half but didn't have to go anywhere else.  They looked at Minna who did manage to stand (without painkillers in her), but refused to walk.  They also looked at  her x-ray and said there was a suspicious spot.  The spot could be a small fracture, or a blood vessel, or just her.  Toddler bones are so soft it can be hard to tell with a little fracture.  But since she was so gimpy they called it a "toddler fracture" and put a cast on her.

It took her a couple of days but she can walk in it now, and the cast is water proof so we can give her a bath.  She only has to wear the cast for 2 weeks so it comes off the 14th.  She does get carried a whole lot more, which I am pretty sure makes her happy.
