In late November we had the missionaries over. We hadn't quite gotten to Christmas mode around here, instead we were still counting our blessings. Anyway the missionaries decided to share a Christmas message and started out asking Joshua some questions. "What is Christmas about?" Joshua responded, "Getting Presents!!!!". "Okay, yes, but who do we remember on Christmas?" Joshua yelled out, "Santa!". As Brian put it, we had a parenting fail. Fortunately two weeks later when we fed them again, he was able to give out good answers.
We went to the Victorian Streetwalk. We bundled Miriam up nice and warm.
We also bundled the kids up in the double stroller.
They weren't cold, but we later realized that it is nearly impossible to navigate the giant stroller when it is packed with people. We didn't go see alot of the things, but we had fun walking around and enjoyed some good kettle corn and hot chocolate.
Joshua built a pirate ship out of blocks. He love to have directions when he builds things, so on the left you see his "pirate ship plans" on the right is his treasure map.
Then Joshua got to go with Daddy to the Christmas parade. We were going to go as a family, but Minna was having a really rough night, so I stayed home and we did crafts while the boys were gone. I asked Brian to take pictures, here is the real condensed version.
Minna went to bed and pulled a bunch of books into her crib and made this funny face at me.
Miriam learned how to crawl, so we contained her in a box.
We made ornaments for the kids' Christmas tree out of playdough.
Joshua had a Christmas party at school. They sang Christmas songs for us.
Then we had a brunch, and then Santa came and gave each kid a gift. Our kids got calendars, which sounds lame until you realize how they love to count down to the next big thing, and how much Joshua loves to know what is going to happen next. He is like me a big planner.
The kids and I had friends over and decorated cookies. I wanted to get a picture of the kids decorating it, because they were totally into it, but they kept me busy helping them. Especially Minna, needed help because she kept licking her fingers and getting new sprinkles stuck to them, licking them off, over and over again.
Miriam learned to sit up and so can now take a bath in the big tub.
Terry sent us shelving so we can organize our bathroom (I asked for it, she didn't sent it as a hint). One of the boxes came apart to look like coffins. So the kids played they were vampires.
So that was pretty much our pre-Christmas December. Kudos to anyone besides grandparents who made it all the way through this post.
