Visiting Family

Last week my family came to visit. My dad, my mom, Emily and Nathan came. Heather couldn't come because she is married. We had a really good time, and had a very full week. The first day they were here my dad and Nathan went to the Baseball Hall of Fame museum in Cooperstown. My mom, Emily, Joshua and I went to the Thoroughbred Racing Museum. It was pretty interesting. They even had a fake horse that you could ride in a race. Emily did it and said it felt pretty much like a real horse.

Joshua got to sit on the "warm-up" horse. I think it is funny they make you get on the fake-fake horse to make sure that you can get on, before you get to ride the fake horse that moves. It seems like not turning on the moving horse would work just as well.

The next day everyone but Brian left for Palmyra. Brian had to stay behind and work. =(. In Palmyra we first went to the Hill C0morah where Joseph Smith received the Golden Plates from the angel Moroni.

It was raining so we hid under the tree for a while. I am amazed at how much the trees here protect you from the rain. We hardly got wet at all until it started pouring and the trees couldn't hold all the water. Joshua was doubly protected because he had his stroller too.

Then we went to the Smith Family farm. We saw the cabin they lived in and the frame house they lived in. On the farm is the Sacred Grove where Joseph Smith prayed and saw God the Father and Jesus Christ. The grove was alot bigger than I expected and we walked around for a while. It was nice to just walk and think about what happened there.

The next day we went to the bookstore/printing office where the Book of Mormon was printed. After that we drove to Canada to see Niagra Falls. This was my first time leaving the country so that made it kind of exiciting. The most foreign thing we saw was the restrooms were called waterclosets and the speed limits were in kilometers per hour instead of miles per hour. The falls were really impressive.

Joshua liked feeling the mist on the hot day.
Then when we got back home we got to go to Joshua's friend's birthday party, and the next day Joshua went swimming for the first time. The pictures of that are on our disposable camera, so maybe I will post them later.

Finally we were able to get some family pictures.

All in all it was really fun to have them come and visit and we had a good time.
