If you're happy and you know it....

....Clap your hands. Joshua just figured out how to clap his hands today, and he is so proud.

We have taught Joshua to get off the couch and chairs feet first, instead of head first. He was playing on the couch with Brian and wanted to get off. Joshua crawled over to the edge and looked off. We told him to go off feet first, and he just looked at us and fussed. Brian turned him parallel to the couch so he could turn and back off, but Joshua couldn't figure out how to get his feet going that way, finally Brian just got him facing the correct way and Joshua slid off. We cheered and clapped for him, so he will keep coming off feet first. Then he started clapping for himself. Then we clapped for him clapping. We all sat around and clapped for like 5 minutes.

Joshua has also started trying to talk. He loves birds both seeing them and listening to them sing when it is cool enough to have the windows open. Whenever he pays attention to them I tell him that they are birds. But Brian and I started saying it like they do in Bambi, "birrr Duh". So Joshua thinks that birds are "Duh". We get a kick out of Brian saying "Bir" and then Joshua goes "Duh." Joshua has managed to say "Bird" once or twice, so I count it as his first word besides "dada".

  1. What a big boy! Be careful with the clapping though. Davey learned how to clap a week or so a go and now we have to clap after EVERYTHING we do. Your hands get very tired.
