Gingerbread houses

The week before Christmas I gathered the family together at the table (well bribed them with candy to get them there) and we made gingerbread houses. In retrospect it would probably be wise to build the house first and let the structure dry before decorating, but it has been a looooonnnnnnngggggg time since I have done gingerbread houses. We did them elementary school style with graham crackers around milk cartons (or cream cartons in our case).

Minna enjoyed sticking M&Ms on, until she realized how yummy M&Ms are then she starting eating the candy by the fistfuls and I had to scoot her out of the way. Here is Minna with her and my gingerbread house, and her out of reaching distance so she doesn't eat the whole thing during the picture taking.

Brian and Joshua made theirs into a gingerbread castle. The mote surrounding it is a crushed blue candy cane. Brian wasn't that excited to begin with, but once his creative side took over he quite enjoyed himself. Joshua had a little more self control and was able to stay near his creation.
