Today was Joshua's first day as a sunbeam. To say he was excited would be a gross understatement. He spent the whole morning singing the sunbeam song and practicing for saying the closing prayer in primary. I would hear him just randomly saying prayers all morning long. Then on the way to church he practiced saying his teacher's name over and over again.
We went to church a little early so that Joshua could practice talking into the microphone since he had the prayer. He also got to meet his teacher, but he got all shy. Then he had to wait through sacrament meeting. During the sacrament he started singing the sunbeam song again. His friend and fellow sunbeamer was sitting behind us so they got to go to the primary room together.
All the sunbeams were amazing today. They all sat there with their arms folded and were the most reverent kids in the room. It was so cute watching them take everything in. I did sharing time today and Joshua started his constant running commentary for a minute until we told him he couldn't talk, then he was quiet again. When it came time for the closing prayer, Joshua looked out at all the kids and froze, then just started hugging Brian with a pitiful look on his face. Brian ended up having to say the prayer, but Joshua finally looked at the kids and folded his arms. Hopefully he gets more comfortable as the year goes on.
When they went to class they made these awesome books. Joshua has been reading it to me all day. Here is what Joshua's looks like.
