Stocking fish at the lake

Today Joshua's preschool got to go on a field trip to Lake Monreau to stock the fish there.  The kids got in a long line and were handed a bucket of fish, and then took the fish into the lake to dump it.

Minna was kind of freaked out by the fish flopping around in there.  The second time she had a bigger bucket, so the fish weren't right in her face and she liked it better.  The second time she dumped the fish, one fish swam back on land and grounded itself.  I had to push the confused fish back into the water with my foot.

Then the kids went to play in the water.  It was pretty cold, so Joshua couldn't decide which was better putting his boots on or off.  Minna just copied whatever Joshua did.

Joshua eventually went with boots on being the best option, and went out so far that he filled his boots up with water.  Then he was trying to run along the beach with his friends.  The heavy boots slowed him way down, and you could hear the water sloshing in his boots as he ran. And if you looked at him, water was splashing out of his boots too.

After the kids got bored dumping fish in, they hosed the rest of the fish out into the water.  All the kids lined up to watch.

It was a lot of fun and it wore the kids out.
