Easter 2011

Here is what we did for this last Easter. We first wanted to teach the kids about the real reason we have Easter, so family home evenings focused on the death and resurrection of our Savior. We looked at pictures, talked about the story and watched some movies about it. I am hoping as the years go we can have some good traditions that focus on Christ.

We also did some of the fun easter activities. We dyed Easter eggs. Joshua loves dunking the eggs.
Brian was working swings and Saturday morning we woke up to this:
so our Easter festivities were spread out.
Saturday the kids got a chocolate bunny and they each got a new book. Joshua got the Little Engine that Could and Minna got a farm touch and feel book. We read them multiple times that day. We also pounded up the chocolate bunnies and made chocolate chip cookies out of them. It was a lot of fun.

Minna wore her new Easter dress, but was in need of a nap when we tried to take pictures so we just got a sour face,

and we didn't get any pictures of her with Joshua.

Monday morning we had the easter egg hunt. Joshua came home and wanted a snack, so he runs to his chair, there was an egg hidden on the chair.
He throws the egg out of the way and starts to climb onto his chair, then he realizes that there was candy, so he started grabbing eggs and chucking them and eating the candy. We had a hard time getting him to actually go get the rest of the eggs.

Minna likes having a few eggs to shake around and chew on.

We are debating if we are going to have candy in eggs anymore. The meltdown during the hunt, and after the hunt, and the rest of the day when Joshua just wanted to continue to binge on candy, made us think that alot of the fun was taken out of it. I am thinking next year we will dye eggs and hide them, and I will bake something yummy to eat afterwards.

Then Tuesday we had our Easter dinner. It was the first night Brian was home for dinner. I made a strawberry pie that turned out wonderful. I was so proud.

All in all it was a fun Easter.
