Miriam at one

Here is what Miriam is doing now.
  • She had a birthday and decided she was a big girl.  She needs to be everywhere Joshua and Minna are and doing whatever they are doing.
  • She can successfully navigate the stairs up and down.  This is a new development, and we do have to watch to make sure she doesn't try to slide down on her bum instead of her belly, but I don't panic when she sneaks upstairs anymore.
  • She can walk a few steps at a time, and can crawl like the wind.
  • She is a little monkey and climbs up everything she can.
  • She loves applause and will try to get everyone's attention to get the approval she deserves.
  • She eats devours books.  Literally, she ate an entire leg off a book that was shaped like a bunny.
  • If you ask for a kiss she will swing her forehead at you, so you can give her a kiss.
  • She loves to be outside, and would rather be outside in her swing with the big kids, then inside with me playing.
  • She says "mama", "dada", "I did it", she will also say many words one or two times.  I am thinking she is storing them away in her vocabulary, and will one day start talking up a storm.
  • She communicates by pointing, grunting, and nodding her head and clapping if you start getting something she wants.
  • She eats almost everything.  I am going to enjoy it until she gets picky like the rest of them.
  • She likes shoes and socks, but she curls her toes so it is hard to get the shoes to stay on.  But then she tries to put her shoes back on herself.
  • She rides in the Ergo.  When she is on my back sometimes she tries to take her shoes on and off.  It can make the ride a little lopsided.  But it is fun to cuddle with her.
  • She has already chosen a lovey.  The bigger kids were almost two when they decided they preferred a particular blanket.  Miriam got a stuffed koala for her birthday, and she loves it.  She has even said Koala a couple of times, and she drags it around with her everywhere.
That's our Miriam.  Here's a picture, just because.
